Manny Santiago

Juan
Manuel (Manny) Santiago was born and raised in Puerto Rico. His
great-grandmother was a lay missionary of the – then – Northern Baptist
Convention, and his family has been in the American Baptist family for
four generations. He was ordained by the First Baptist Church in Newton
Centre, MA in 2007 being the first Latino to be ordained to the ministry
by that congregation. He has worked with American Baptist congregations
in Puerto Rico, Massachusetts, and New York City. Currently, he serves
as the Associate Pastor of the Church of St. Paul & St. Andrew, United
Methodist, in the city of New York, and his responsibilities include
working with the United Campus Ministry at Columbia University.
A graduate of Andover
Newton Theological School, Manny is the author of “Para ser bautistas /
Being Baptists” a bilingual, small-group resource for new members,
published by Judson Press in 2009. He has also taught at the Humanities
Department’s distance learning program of the Inter American University
of Puerto Rico in Ponce. Manny has been an individual member of AWAB
since 2000.
He has a passion for
reading, traveling, preaching, and exploring new restaurants in New York
City, in that order! For the past five years, Manny has shared his life
with Andrew Madej, a freelance tuba player and graduate from both
Oberlin Conservatory and New England Conservatory of Music. |
